08.30.15 Worship Confessional

people2One of my favorites phrases when talking about our community of faith are the words, “men and women, boys and girls.” Every member of our community matters to God and one of the ways we live into this value is by creating intentional, inter-generational worship environments. Our Director of Children, Amber Steele has done tremendous work in developing a framework that encourages the men and women, boys and girls of Christ Community Church to bring their lives before God in worship.

Today our theme was “Following Jesus Every Day” and we worshiped God through song, Scripture, prayers and service. We lived into the story by taking time to roll up our sleeves, working together to be a source of blessing to others. People were given to the option to choose one of the following six serving opportunities:

Group 1: wrapping silverware for the dinner at Shepherd’s Heart
Group 2: writing encouragement notes for the to-go dinners at Shepherd’s Heart
Group 3: making treats for the Point Park University students
Group 4: cleaning car windshields in the parking lot
Group 5: prayer walking around the outside of Eisenhower school
Group 6: preparing treats for the Eisenhower Elementary School staff

How do you engage the different generations in worship?

Here is our complete worship flow:

  • Hosanna (Paul Baloche)
  • Because of Your Love (Paul Baloche)
  • Call to Worship
  • One Thing Remains (Bethel Worship)
  • Romans 8:31-29
  • Announcements and Offering
  • Enter the Story
  • Live into the Story
  • I Will Follow (Chris Tomlin)
  • Benediction (Revelation 1:5b-6)
