12.01.13 Worship Confessional

JesseTreeA shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him—the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord—and he will delight in the fear of the Lord. (Isaiah 11:1-3)

This morning we begin the season of Advent with an inter-generational WE event, called “Expectations.” During the event we created a Jesse tree to help us explore what it means to wait with expectation for Jesus, the Son of God, the One ushers in God’s eternal kingdom.

How did you mark the beginning of the season of Advent?

Here is our complete worship flow:

  • Rock of Ages (Paul Baloche)
  • Your Grace Is Enough (Matt Maher)
  • An Invitation into Advent
  • O Come, O Come Emmanuel (Paul Baloche version)
  • Announcements and Offering
  • WE Experience: Expectations
  • Everlasting God (Brenton Brown)

You can learn what other communities of faith experienced this weekend in worship at The Worship Confessional.

The finish line is in sight for my book project, “A Movable Feast: Worship for the Other Six Days.” Please take a moment and check out my Indiegogo campaign. I would love to have you as a partner on my support team.
