09.15.13 Worship Confessional

rsvp logoYesterday we begin a new series called RSVP. This fall we will exploring the implications of this statement:

Accepting God’s invitation today to make all things as they should be in the places we live, learn, work and play.

During the first message we looked at the nature of character of God, discovering that while God has the authority to rightfully power up on people, exert God’s will and demand that people get in line and obey, God instead chooses to invite people into amazing opportunities to be difference makers in this world. God invited Abraham and Sarah to become a great nation destined to bless, Moses to lead God’s people out of Egypt, Esther to save a nation from annihilation, Peter, Andrew, James and John to begin a lifelong journey of discipleship and the people of God in Laodicea to open up the door of  their hearts for Jesus to enter.

What image of God do you carry around in your mind? Is God a demanding, authoritative being who demands obedience, duty and responsible behavior? Is God, a divine being who know that our best life is discovered when we join in the redemptive work that God is already doing in the world through Jesus Christ?

What might God’s invitation to you look like today?
