6.26.11 Worship Confessional

God, what in the world are you doing?

This morning, my good friend Marilyn Mulvihill from World Vision joined us in worship. I have known Marilyn for many years and God used her to catalyze my trip to Kenya and Ethiopia in 2007.  The fruit of that trip includes a partnership with the Guraghe ADP in Ethiopia. Marilyn talked about a number of things that she sees God doing in the world today including some important work around child protection that World Vision is doing in partnership with International Justice Mission. As well, Marlaena Cochran, our Director of Spiritual Formation, shared about a new ministry opportunity she will be engaged in with World Vision called Women of Vision. You can listen to their comments at my audio site Thinking Out Loud.

Question: What is God doing in your world and how is God inviting you to be a part of the work God is doing?

This morning in worship we introduced a new song by Matthew Reed, “Crash This Place.” Matt is a new artist and “Crash This Place” comes from his EP, “Come and Drink.” My friend Rob Rash said this in a recent review:

“With a mix of Coldplay & Mat Kearney comes a refreshing and new sound for corporate worship. Although I wouldn’t pigeonhole Matthew Reed solely into a Christian worship genre, there are tones strung throughout this album that continue to point us back to God.”

“Crash This Place” is a great opener or closer and so today in worship we used it as both. I especially loved singing the chorus in light of Jesus’ words in Acts 1:8, “ But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Holy Spirit won’t You move in power
Come and crash this place with love
Come and crash this place with love
King of glory, come and have Your way here
Come and crash this place with love
Come and crash this place with love

I’m a music ministry leader & was also just looking at using Crash This Place as well in service, so it’s nice to hear it went over well. Also been looking at Matt Redman’s This is How We Know, good to see someone use it. Thanks & Blessings!

  2. Terry, I pray God crash your place according to the desire of your heart!

  3. An answer to your question today, “What is God doing in your world and how is God inviting you to be a part of the work God is doing?”

God is changing our church from one location, to one church, two locations. I have been chosen to lead worship at the new campus and I am super pumped about it. Also, completely terrified. It’s been spirit-busting work so far in pre-launch. Prayers appreciated.

    • Jeff,

I will be praying for you in this season of change. It sounds very exciting and a great opportunity to learn to trust God and others in a deeper way.

      Rich blessings,

      TT

  4. If I put “CRASH THIS PLACE” on a play list I’d get some questions (hee hee)

Looks great Terry….keep up the good work.
